com, www.falkensteiner.com. From a rather chilly greeting
at the front desk, the other staff prove as friendly as the
décor is stylishly designed. Warm rooms have minibar and
a safe in a decidedly Japanese theme, with draped cloth,
corner sofas and ingenious light fixtures. The hotel chain’s
resort theme is shown here in the prints on the wall and the
small but gorgeous wellness spa in the basement. Lovely.
Q109 rooms (singles N158 - 222, 109 doubles N168 - 232).
maximilianhotel.com, www.maximilianhotel.com. A
beautiful hotel has been improved upon with an aesthetically-pleasing
fusion of contemporary, art deco, light, wood,
chrome and more. Luxury (floatation tanks and Sabai Thai
massage on site) and elegance (Philippe Starck bathtubs and
the best mod cons). Simply delightful, darling. Q71 rooms
metamorphis.cz, www.metamorphis.cz. This charming
hotel is tucked away in Týnsky dvůr, one of the most picturesque
squares in the Old Town. In keeping with the locale, the
interior is just lovely: all chandeliers and antique beds in the
bedrooms. However, things get a bit garish in the restaurant
downstairs. Q24 rooms (singles N156 - 229, 19 doubles
www.avehotels.cz. From the relaxed radio-filled lobby to
the elegant antique-filled rooms, Mucha’s fabulous art deco
work is very much in evidence, while friendly staff adds to the
experience. Religious art seems to be favoured décor in some
rooms. Benefiting price-wise for its slightly out-of-the-way
location, it is still exceedingly central. Q38 rooms (3 singles
Japanese feel in a Tarantino kind of way. Low beds and tables,
smoked glass doors, clean simple interiors make a cool atmosphere.
Minibar and safe in all rooms, plus a massive labyrinth
of a bar and restaurant downstairs. Q34 rooms (singles
cz. It took over a year to renovate this old house to a perfect
balance between the historic, and the best of the present
day. Judith Bridge, precursor to that teenaged Charles Bridge,
makes up the floor and walls of the café. Jacuzzis and full
PC/internet packages are found in every apartment. Q13
The tram and tourist bustle of Ujezd is left behind
immediately on entering the atrium lobby of the Roma. Deep
leather couches, subdued lighting and a shark swimming
lazily around its large tank are an appropriate introduction to
the classically minimalist rooms. Q87 rooms (74 doubles
new hotel and be greeted not only by the doorman, but also
by chubby cherubs looking down on you from above. Pink
Valentine’s Day – but the rooms are decorated with more
conservative and elegant greens and golds. Check out the
attic fitness centre. Q50 rooms (44 doubles N125 - 225, 2
