LED STATUS PROBLEM CORRECTIVE ACTION0 FLASHES (LED NOT LIT) Pilot light is not lit or Thermopilehas not yet reached normaloperating temperature.RED LIGHT ON (SOLID)STATUS LIGHT AND DIAGNOSTIC CODE TROUBLESHOOTING CHARTPilot light was recentlyextinguished and the Thermopileis cooling down.Turn Gas Control Valve/Thermostat knob to OFF. Wait10 minutes, then attempt to relight Pilot by followingthe lighting instructions on the water heater’s label.Until the Thermopile reaches its normal operatingtemperature, the Status Light will not blink, even if thePilot is lit. It may take up to 90 seconds of continuousPilot operation before the Thermopile reaches normaloperating temperature and the Status Light starts toblink. If the Status Light does not blink after three lightingattempts, check to make sure unit is getting gas.Remove the outer door. Press reset button. Replaceouter door. Turn Gas Control Valve/Thermostat knobto OFF. Wait 10 minutes, then attempt to light Pilot byfollowing the lighting instructions on the water heater’slabel. Look through the view port for the Pilot flame. IfPilot is not visible, the spark igniter or gas supply to thePilot should be checked. If the Pilot is visible and the Status Light does not blinkafter 90 seconds of continuous Pilot operation, the Pilotflame may not be heating the Thermopile sufficiently(weak Pilot), the Thermopile may be defective, or wiringconnectors may be loose.NOTE: If the water heater has been operating buthas stopped and will not re-light, check the flamearrestorfor signs of high temperature (blue or black)discoloration indicating a flammable vapor incident. Ifyou suspect a flammable vapor incident has occurred,do not use this appliance. Immediately call a qualifiedtechnician to inspect the appliance. Water heaterssubjected to a flammable vapors ignition will requirereplacement of the entire water heater.Turn Gas Control Valve/Thermostat knob to OFF. Wait10 minutes for the Thermopile to cool, then attemptto relight Pilot by following the lighting instructions onthe water heater’s label. NOTE: This gas controlvalve/thermostat has built-in circuitry that requireswaiting 10 minutes between lighting attempts.Until the Thermopile reaches its normal operatingtemperature, the Status Light will not blink, even if thePilot is lit. It may take up to 90 seconds of continuousPilot operation before the Thermopile reaches normaloperating temperature and the Status Light starts toblink.1 FLASH (EVERY 3 SECONDS) Normal operation. No corrective action necessary.2 FLASHES Pilot is lit but the Thermopile isnot producing the required outputvoltage.Turn Gas Control Valve/Thermostat knob to OFF. TheThermopile is probably defective, but loose wiringconnections or a weak Pilot flame can also cause thissymptom.33
