MAJOR APPLIANCES & ACCESSORIESRefrigeratorThe Allegro Bay motor home will contain a refrigerator manufactured by either of these two manufacturers:Norcold, Incorporated or The Dometic Corporation. As each of these operates somewhat differently from theother, each will be individually addressed in this section to permit the motor-home owner to use the oneinstalled in his motor home. Note: If the 12V system is off the refrigerator will not work. When the refrigerator is in the “LP gas” mode, make sure that the main LP gas valve is in the “on” positionbefore attempting to start the refrigerator. Please note that the refrigerator is equipped with a semi-automaticenergy selector (AES) control system which can set automatically to switch between a 120-volt AC system or aLP-gas operation system.WarningThe majority of LP gas appliances used in motor homes normally vent to the outside ofthe motor home. When your motor home may be parked in close proximity to a fuelpump (i.e., during re-fueling operations), it is possible that the fuel fumes could enterthis type of appliance and possibly be ignited by the burner flame thereby causing a fireor explosion. Accordingly, please use extreme caution when re-fueling the motorhome. The 12-VDC power supply (e.g., 12 VDC system of the motor home, auxiliary battery, or converter)must be “on” for the proper operation of the refrigerator. For electrical operation of the refrigerator, either the external electrical power line must be connected to the motor home or the on-board electricalgenerator must be running to provide the necessary 120-volt AC power. To operate the refrigerator inthe LP-gas mode, the main LP gas valve must be “open.”Norcold RefrigeratorTo start the Norcold refrigerator (Figure 4-2), on the control panel(Figure 4-1) press the main power“on/off” button [right-handbutton] to the “on” position whichstarts the refrigerator in the“automatic” mode. When this isdone, if 120-volt AC is available tothe motor home, the AC modeFigure 4-1. Norcold Control Panelindicator light will light andindicate that the AC power is available to the motor home. However, ifthe 120-volt AC is not available, then the gas mode indicator light will beilluminated indicating that the refrigerator will be operating on the LP gasFigure 4-2. Norcold Refrigerator4-2
