A broadand varied number of courses, study programmes and specialisationsare offered within the different academies. Theprogrammes combine theoretical studies with practice, andeducate artists, musicians and actors possessing a high levelof artistic and professional ability. A number of prominentartists, both in Sweden and internationally, have studied atLund University’s Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts.Applicants undergo an extensive admission process. Inorder to be admitted, both skills, talent and motivation arerequired. As a successful candidate you can expect a uniqueopportunity to do what you are passionate about in a stimulatingenvironment.Both practice and guidance are necessary for studentsto develop their artistry, and we consider it important thatour lecturers and teachers combine their teaching with beingpractising artists, musicians and actors. Independent workis also emphasised and there is a good access of studios andpractice rooms at each Academy.Participation in and interaction with the surrounding culturallife is prioritised. Students participate in various public exhibitions,concerts and performances. These are often highlyappreciated and well attended, both by local people andother students. Malmö Academy of Theatre has its owntheatre in connection with its premises, Malmö Academyof Art presents its own exhibitions in its student gallery andMalmö Academy of Music arranges over 200 concerts a year.Together the academies also run Inter Arts Centre (IAC),a centre for research and experimentation. The environmentat the centre is intended to offer opportunities for interdisciplinaryprojects between visual art, music and theatre,but also projects in collaboration with artists outside thedepartments.All three academies have active networks with internationalartists, musicians and performers as guest lecturers.You therefore have great opportunities to make valuablecontacts for the future.Fine & Performing Arts
