5.7.2 Potential ImpactsThe works for the Feeder 708 upgrade will be restricted to pole excavations and polemodifications and as a result will not significantly impact on the existing visual amenity orsignificance of the heritage listed railway station. The proposal passes through Bexley NorthRailway Station curtilage and work will be undertaken near brick piers that are of localheritage significance, but the works involve the replacement of three poles and overheadwires. Therefore negligible impacts on the station are expected.Bexley North Railway Station was identified as a RailCorp section 170 listing and as such stateheritage approval for the work is not required. However Sydney Trains have been consultedand its proposed mitigation measures have been incorporated.Wolli Creek Valley was listed on the Rockdale LEP and it runs from Bexley Road east of theproposal along Wolli Creek, adjacent to the proposed feeder route. The works involvereplacing the existing infrastructure, therefore there is not expected to be any additionalvisual impacts. As such, Wolli Creek Valley is not expected to be impacted by the proposal.5.7.3 Control MeasuresEnsure there are adequate safeguards to protect the heritage components of the BexleyNorth Railway Station, including the brick piers supporting the overbridge.Rockdale City Council will be consulted in relation to the Wolli Creek Valley prior to anyconstruction works. Both the Bexley North Railway Station Group and Wolli Creek Valley heritage items will beidentified in the CEMP and ECM to ensure workers are aware of their locations. If there arescope changes that may impact on the item to contact the environmental representativeand the Office of Rail Heritage is to be consulted. If any item suspected of being of non-indigenous heritage significance is found, work is tocease in the area until the item can be verified by a heritage consultant, be reported to theOffice of Environment and Heritage and the relevant approvals sought.Any accidental damage to heritage items during the construction phase will be immediatelyreported to the environmental representative (ER) and to TfNSW.5.8 Waste5.8.1 Waste Management StrategiesThe hierarchy of waste management that will be adopted for this proposal;Prevention of wastage of materials on site.Minimise the amount of waste generated.Reuse materials where possible.Recycle materials where possible.Disposal of waste in a responsible manner.Novo Rail adopts the resource management hierarchy principles embodied in the WasteAvoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001. Reporting of waste under the Waste Reductionand Purchasing Policy (WRAPP) will be undertaken.Page 32
