o If material is excavated and requires disposal, sample analysis will be undertaken forwaste classification in accordance with DECCW Waste Classification Guidelines.o The site manager is to consult the environmental representative when evidence ofcontaminated material is reported and the best practicable environmental option is tobe discussed and adopted for managing the material.o Where visual evidence of contamination (e.g. a localised layer of ash and clinker,hydrocarbon odour etc.) is identified during the construction phase of the proposeddevelopment, further sampling and chemical analysis is to be undertaken by anoccupational hygienist to determine the magnitude and extent of contamination forwaste classification and disposal purposes.o If any material identified as containing asbestos is removed from site, it will be taken toa landfill site licensed to receive asbestos waste.o Site access is to be restricted to authorised personnel only by the use ofbarricades/fences with adequate signs displayed on the site’s boundary fence. Personnelauthorised to access the site are to complete specific project site inductions.o Maintain daily records of where disturbance of potentially suspect material hasoccurred, type and volume of any excavated material, where it was stored and disposedof. All relevant documentation such as disposal certificates are to be maintained onsite.7.10 Visual AmenitySetup perimeter fencing including jersey kerbs and temporary fencing enclosing the sitecompound.The project’s plant and materials will be stored within the rail corridor against the fence lineand, where possible, out of sight from local housing and/or passing public.Lockable storage containers will be kept on site for the storage of project materials andtools, and contain a fenced off area securing the storage of large items such as cable drums.The work area shall be maintained in an orderly manner.All temporary signage associated with the works must be appropriately displayed.All waste generated during the course of the works will be removed from the work areas assoon as practicable or at the end of each work day and disposed of in accordance with themeasures identified for ‘Waste’On completion of work, all vehicles, materials and refuse relating to the works will beremoved and the site reinstated to the pre-work condition if not better.7.11 Traffic and AccessA traffic control plan will be prepared and implemented.The traffic control plan will ensure compliance with Australian Standard AS1742.3-2002Manual of uniform traffic control devices – traffic control devices on roads.Bardwell RSL, Council and Roads and Maritime will be consulted during the preparation ofthe traffic control plan.Road and Maritime approvals and permits for Bexley Road will be obtained prior toconstruction commencing in this area.Limit the impact on the surrounding community by plant and machinery movements tooutside peak traffic times.Page 47
Dilapidation survey to be completed prior to construction commencing.All pavement and road surfaces damaged during construction will be restored when work isfinished.7.12 Light SpillIf any slighting is used, the amount of light spill onto the surrounding residential propertieswill be minimised by ensuring proper placement of light sources.7.13 Cumulative impactsAny other major development or works planned in the vicinity of the site will be furtherinvestigated before construction beginsConsultation with Rockdale City Council and any other relevant stakeholders regarding otherdevelopments will be undertaken on an ongoing basis.Page 48
