Introduction8(b) Townships Covering an area > 50 (Protection) Act, 1972; (ii) Criticallyand Area ha and or built up area polluted areas as identified by theDevelopment >1,50,000 sq .mtrs ++ Central Pollution Control Boardprojects.from time to time; (iii) Ecosensitiveareas as notified undersection 3 of the Environment(Protection) Act, 1986, such as,Mahabaleswar Panchangi,Matheran, Pachmarhi, Dahanu,Doon Valley and (iv) inter-stateboundaries and internationalboundaries.1Provided that the requirementregarding distance of 10km of theinter-state boundaries can bereduced or completely done awaywith by an agreement between therespective states or U.Ts sharingthe common boundary in the casethe activity does not fall within 10kilometers of the areas mentionedat item (i), (ii) and (iii) above#(built up area for covered construction; in the case of facilities open to the sky, it will be theactivity area)++All projects under Item 8(b) shall be appraised as Category B1This section of the manual addresses the important issues to be discussed in the environmentalimpact assessment of building construction projects.
