Alas, I do not have that level <strong>of</strong> talent! So, I havebeen a computer science and math pr<strong>of</strong>essor. I love organrecitals more than any other kind <strong>of</strong> musical performanceand attend many <strong>of</strong> them – and yes, I’ve watched Michael’sponytail change from dark to …lighter, as my own hair has aswell. When not listening to or performing music, teaching, orworking on my house and yard, I am addicted to shelling inFlorida and to hiking and camping pretty much everywhere,particularly in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I’m also addictedto my two grandchildren. I’m married to a physicist, Mike, whois currently working in Boise, ID, for HP and who will join me fora couple <strong>of</strong> weeks after the organ tour.Linda Shortridge Graduated with Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Architecture,U. <strong>of</strong> Mich., 1960. Lived in The Netherlands 3-1/2 years where Iworked in urban design and heard concerts by Gustav Leonhardand Frans Brüggen. Married to John Shortridge, formerCurator <strong>of</strong> Musical Instruments at the Smithsonian Institutionwho started the restoration program with the idea <strong>of</strong> playingon the antique instruments. Built harpsichords with John andwe restored three mid 19th century Boston-built pipe organs,two by George Stevens and one built in 1840 by Thomas Appleton,I continued as a viola da gamba maker, having completedat least 85 instruments. I have worked with Eric Hoperich inearly clarinet making, I play golf and enjoy playing the viol.John Stoltzfus was born in Iowa, educated at Goshen Collegeand Notre Dame Law School, and is a retired Minnesotaattorney. In his career he was active in private practice and alsoin corporate law as counsel with a multiline insurance company.Prior to law school he taught at Keisen Junior College inTokyo, Japan, for three years. This will be his sixth <strong>Pipe</strong>dreamstour including two prior to France, two to Germany and one toQuebec. He is married and has two grown sons. Activities otherthan organ tours include photography, travel, and computerinstallation and training. He also volunteers at, and is BoardChairman <strong>of</strong> a small Minneapolis charity in north Minneapolis.Earle Sweat played the piano from an early age, played inthe Duke Symphony Orchestra, and the Duke Marching Band.He enjoys organ, choral, and operatic music. He practicedmedicine in the east at Duke Medical Center, New York CornellHospital, and the Mass General Hospital, where he met his wife,Terri. He practiced medicine in the west at the USAF hospitalin Great Falls, Montana, the UCLA Harbor General Hospital inLos Angeles, and the Santa Rosa St Joseph Memorial Hospital.In 1982 he established one <strong>of</strong> the first Ambulatory SurgicalCenters in the U.S. A Floridian by birth, he enjoys beaches andwater sports everywhere.Terri Sweat, a native New <strong>England</strong>er, whose childhood wasspent in “the most patriotic town in America”, (Bristol, R.I.), is aforty-three year resident <strong>of</strong> California , who has grown to lovethe place. Terri met her soul-mate at MGH in Boston whileworking as an R.N. She is a wife, mother, and friend. Nowjoyfully, she is Grandma Vov to three extraordinary children.Her passions, in addition to the aforementioned, are gardening,reading and sewing. Language, literature, and music havebeen lifelong inspirations.Carole Symonette, native Tennessean-transplanted Texan, developeda love <strong>of</strong> organ music when, as a teenager, she secretlyslipped into the sanctuary to hear the organist practice. Witha Music Education degree, training in voice and flute, and prioreditorial responsibilities for “Music Ministry”, a United MethodistChurch publication, in 1998 she joined a 400-voice massedchoir singing all-Bach programs in famous UK churches andcathedrals. In 2006 she performed John Rutter’s music, underthe composer’s baton, in Carnegie Hall. Carole, a former member<strong>of</strong> the Nashville TN Symphony Chorale, currently sings inher church choir and with the Midland-Odessa (TX) SymphonyChorale. Favorite organ selection: “Toccato” from “SymphonyNo. 5” by C.M. Widor.Bill and Deb Timby are from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Theyplay various musical instruments in band and orchestra butdo not play the organ. They are avid organ music listeners andhave been on three previous <strong>Pipe</strong> Organ tours.Chwen-Huei Tsai (with Chien-Chang Yang) is organist atSuang-Lien Presbyterian Church, Taipei, Taiwan. She studiedorgan with Dr. John Walker at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh.Chwen-Huei is an adjunct faculty member at Taiwan University<strong>of</strong> Arts, Taipei.Bruce Westcott A native <strong>of</strong> Pennsylvania, I have been attendingorgan trips since about 1997, including OHS/HOST, FOMS/BOMS, etc. as an escape from the pressures <strong>of</strong> my job as investmentmanager, first at Lehman Brothers, then at two otherfirms, before retiring. I have a BA from Brown University, and anMBA from Columbia. I am divorced and have two children, andnow, two grandchildren (twin girls!). I have collected antiquerugs as well as <strong>American</strong> furniture from the 18th and early 19thcenturies, Hokusai Japanese prints, and impressionist paintingsfrom Bucks County, PA, where I grew up. I have given up skiing,squash, tennis and other active sports for the past 5 years, butstill swim a lot. I have been living for the past 15 years on theEast side <strong>of</strong> New York. I do not play the organ, but I collect andplay organ CDs, and go to lots <strong>of</strong> concerts in the New York area.
