Executive Board
Heinz Karrer
Chief Executive Offi cer
Born in 1959, Swiss
Heinz Karrer has been Chief Executive Offi cer
(CEO) of Axpo Holding AG since 2002. Until
30 September 2007, he was also the CEO of Axpo
AG (formerly NOK). From 1998 to 2002, Heinz
Karrer was a member of the executive board of
Swisscom AG, where he served as head of the
Marketing & Sales division. Prior to this, he was
the head of Ringier Schweiz and a member of
the executive board of Ringier AG, as well as CEO
and managing director of Intersport Holding AG.
Heinz Karrer is a member of the supervisory
boards of the following Axpo Group companies:
Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG (chairman),
Centralschweizerische Kraftwerke AG
(vice-chairman) and Axpo AG. He is also a member
of the following boards: Swissgrid AG, Resun AG,
SRG idée suisse Deutschschweiz (until the end
of 2009) and Kuoni Reisen Holding AG. He is also
a member of the board of directors of Swisselectric
and Economiesuisse. Heinz Karrer has a
business diploma.
Rolf Bösch
Member of the Executive Board
Born in 1950, Swiss
Rolf Bösch, Dr. oec. HSG (economist), has been
CFO of Axpo Holding AG and a member of the
Executive Board since 2002. From 1986 to 2002,
he was CFO and, from 1993, a member of the
executive board of Vetropack Group. From 1979
to 1986, he worked in various positions as a
business economist in Swiss companies in the
mechanical engineering industry.
Rolf Bösch is a member of the following boards
and executive bodies: Axpo AG, Centralschweizerische
Kraftwerke AG (vice-chairman), Elektrizitäts-
Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG (vice-chairman),
PKE-CPE Vorsorgestiftung Energie (chairman
of the board of trustees), Committee of the Decommissioning
and Waste Disposal Fund for
Nuclear Power Plants.
Hans Schulz
Member of the Executive Board
Born in 1959, German
Hans Schulz is a qualifi ed industrial engineer
and has a doctorate in mechanical engineering.
He has been Chief Executive Offi cer (CEO) of
Elek trizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG since
2007 and a member of the Executive Board since
2006. From 2006 to September 2007, he was a
member of the Executive Board of Axpo AG (formerly
NOK) and head of the Electrical Grids and
Trading & Sales divisions. Prior to this, he worked
for today’s OC Oerlikon for 18 years, where he
served in various managerial positions in the
Balzers division (coating division). From 1999, he
was also a member of the expanded executive
board of OC Oerlikon.
Hans Schulz is a board member of Swisselectric
and a member of the following boards: Axpo
AG, Centralschweizerische Kraftwerke AG, Trans
Adriatic Pipeline AG, Rätia Energie AG, Poschiavo,
and Rätia Energie Klosters AG.
Manfred Thumann
Member of the Executive Board
Born in 1954, Swiss
Manfred Thumann is a qualifi ed mechanical engineer
and holds a doctorate in materials science.
He has been Chief Executive Offi cer (CEO) of
Axpo AG (formerly NOK) since 2007 and a member
of the Executive Board since 2004. Until
2003, he was a member of the Executive Board
of Axpo AG. From 2003 to 2007, he was head
of the Nuclear Energy division and CEO of Kernkraftwerk
Leibstadt AG. From 1997 to 2003, he
was director of the gas turbine business of Alstom.
Prior to this, he worked for the ABB Group in
various positions and was also a researcher at the
German Aerospace Centre.
Manfred Thumann is a member of the following
boards and executive bodies: Axpo Informatik AG
(chairman), Axpo Suisse AG (chairman), Resun
AG (chairman), Ersatz Kernkraftwerk Beznau AG
(chairman), Kernkraftwerk Leibstadt AG (chairman),
Kernkraftwerk Gösgen-Däniken AG (vicechairman),
Centralschweizerische Kraftwerke
AG, Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG,
Ersatz Kernkraftwerk Mühleberg AG, Swisselectric
research (chairman), Verband Schweizerischer
Elektrizitätsunternehmen (VSE) (board member).

Andrew Walo
Member of the Executive Board
Born in 1963, Swiss and British
Andrew Walo, Dr. oec. publ. (economist) has
been Chief Executive Offi cer (CEO) of Centralschweizerische
Kraftwerke AG and a member
of the Executive Board since 2004. From 2001 to
2004, he was the general manager of SN Energie
AG and Kraftwerke Zervreila AG in Vals. Prior
to this he held several managerial positions with
Alstom and ABB.
Andrew Walo is the chairman of the boards of
CKW Conex AG and Elektrizitätswerk Altdorf
AG. He is also a member of the following boards
of directors: Axpo AG, Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft
Laufenburg AG, Swissgrid AG, Resun AG, Elektrizitätswerk
Schwyz AG, Kraftwerk Göschenen AG,
Kernkraftwerk Gösgen-Däniken AG and Kernkraftwerk
Leibstadt AG. He is also a member of
the CKW Providence Foundation, the board of
Swisselectric, the Lucerne Industrial Association
(LIV) and the Association of Swiss Electricity
Companies (VSE).
