The framework communication strategywas approved and implemented. This framework was in turn used to develop municipalities’ and departments’framework communication strategies. The Office of the Premier coordinates the GPG communication systems toensure synergies in government communication and to promote cooperation on common programmes withinthe Provincial Government and with other spheres of government.The Office of the Premier continued to facilitate a programme of communication through the production anddistribution of the three-monthly rolling calendars, weekly diaries on key GPG public activities and the annualcommunication programme.In support of the Programme of Action, the Office of the Premier developed, updated and implemented targetedcommunication strategies for amongst others: the FIFA 2010 World Cup, Vision 2055, Women’s Month,Human Rights Month, International Day of People with Disabilities, Legislature opening and the Gauteng PublicParticipation Programme. In addition, key message documents, speakers’ notes and speeches were producedfor GPG events.Training was facilitated for EXCO members, as well as GPG and municipal communicators through a variety ofcourses and workshops.A comprehensive media monitoring service continued to be offered for the GPG, including daily and weeklymedia summaries, daily media alerts, press clippings and a rapid response system.
