treating life in the Viroqua area. The topics discussed include prices, crops, land,
machinery, livestock, logging, wages, buildings, fire insurance, the Farmer Trading
Association (farmers store), temperance movement, district school, disease and
medical service, congregations, and synodical controversies. The author
immigrated in 1869.
