Literacy and numeracy skills canhowever be assessed at interview stage forapplicants without GCSEs. You must also beemployed in the industry of your chosensubject when you start an apprenticeship.If we introduce you to an employer, theymay have additional criteria. If you are notcurrently employed in the industry, we willbe able to work with you to find an employerwhilst you are working towards someelements of your apprenticeship.What qualification willI receive?Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeshipcomprising of:NVQ Level 2 in Performing EngineeringOperations, the relevant Level 2 TechnicalCertificate and Key Skillsqualifications in English, Maths and ICT.WHEREWHOWHENProspects College, Basildon.Able and motivated 16-24 year olds,employed in the engineering industryand capable of completing anapprenticeship at Level 2.2 Years (Apprentices attend on a dayrelease basis). For students intendingto achieve the advanced apprenticeship,the first year is spent full time in collegeand you then learn on-the-job at yourplace of work with occasional visits to college.LEVEL 2 ApprenticeshipWhat will I study?You will develop a variety of practical andtheory skills relevant to the apprenticeshipyou wish to pursue. The Level 2 EngineeringApprenticeship is available in the followingareas: Mechanical, Fabrication & Weldingand Maintenance.How will I be assessed?Each qualification within the apprenticeshipframework is assessed through ongoingdemonstration of your practical skills andtheory assessments. Some units of thequalification require online externalexaminations. The NVQ element is assessedin the workplace and will require theproduction of a portfolio of work-basedevidence. Functional Skills courses areassessed by a final written examination.Further training opportunities?After successful completion of the courseyou can progress to a higher levelapprenticeship at Level 3 known as anAdvanced Apprenticeship.How much will it cost?For 16-18 year old students,apprenticeships are fully funded.
