BOAT BUILDING,SERVICING,MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRMarineApprenticeshi pWhat do I need?Ideally, you should have three GCSEs atGrade C or above including English andMaths. Literacy and numeracy skills canhowever be assessed at interview stage forapplicants without GCSEs. You must also beemployed in the marine industry when youstart an apprenticeship. If we introduce youto an employer, they may have additionalcriteria. If you are not currently employed inthe industry, we will be able to work with youto find an employer whilst you are workingtowards some elements of yourapprenticeship.What qualification willI receive?Level 2 Marine Apprenticeship comprisingof:NVQ Level 2 in Boat Building, Servicing,Maintenance and Repair, the relevant Level2 Technical Certificate and Key Skillsqualifications in English, Maths and ICT.WHEREWHOWHENProspects College, Basildon.Able and motivated 16-24 year olds,employed in the marine industry andcapable of completing anapprenticeship at Level 2.2 Years (Apprentices attend on a dayrelease basis). For students intendingto achieve the advanced apprenticeship,the first year is spent full time in collegeand you then learn on-the-job at yourplace of work with occasional visits to college.LEVEL 2 ApprenticeshipWhat will I study?You will develop a variety of practical andtheory skills relevant to the apprenticeshipyou wish to pursue.How will I be assessed?Each qualification within the apprenticeshipframework is assessed through ongoingdemonstration of your practical skills andtheory assessments. Some units of thequalification require online externalexaminations. The NVQ element is assessedin the workplace and will require theproduction of a portfolio of work-basedevidence. Key Skills courses areassessed by a final written examination.Further training opportunities?After successful completion of the courseyou can progress to a higher levelapprenticeship at Level 3 known as anAdvanced Apprenticeship. ProspectsCollege do not currently have a Level 3offer but can advise on progressionpathways with other providers.How much will it cost?For 16-18 year old students,apprenticeships are fully funded.
