VOCATIONAL COURSESOFFERED – PERFORMINGElmhurst offers a three year course inClassical Ballet and Related Dance Stylesfor students from age 16.Students study for the National Diplomain Professional Dance, a Level 6 qualificationawarded by Trinity College London. Graduatesof the Diploma can apply to MiddlesexUniversity to enrol on a conversion course,leading to a BA (Hons) Professional Practice(BAPP). The School also offers a range ofacademic courses to complement its artisticprogrammes to full A-level. Externalqualifications offered include Royal Academyof Dance vocational graded qualifications.Students may be self-funded or in receiptof a Dance & Drama Award.In addition to a faculty of distinguishedteachers and professional artists, Elmhurstbenefits from a close association withBirmingham Royal Ballet. Company membersfrequently visit to give master classes tostudents. Subject to satisfactory progressstudents may join company class and beconsidered for inclusion in BirminghamRoyal Ballet productions.The most recent OFSTED inspection reportrated the school’s provision of the three yearNational Diploma in Professional Danceas “Outstanding”.Elmhurst offers an extensive curriculumencompassing all the requirements forcompletion of the National Diploma inProfessional Dance. In addition, studentsstudy a wide range of complementarysubjects. In the Graduate year, studentsbenefit from a comprehensive programmeof career counselling and management,including the opportunity to compile aphotographic portfolio.COURSES OFFERED – OTHERThe one-year Pre-Professional course is opento pre-professional students for their furtherstudy, professional dancers who havehad time-out through injury or illness, andoverseas students interested in enhancingtheir career opportunities.
