studios, singing and drama studios thecollege provides a spacious and modernworking environment for its studentsand faculty.VOCATIONAL COURSESOFFERED – PERFORMINGDance and Musical Theatre Course,accredited by the CDET.The college offers a single three-yearcourse, Dance and Musical Theatre, fromwhich it delivers both the Trinity CollegeLondon Diplomas in Professional Dance orMusical Theatre. Students receive a balancedtraining in all areas of the performing artsto develop the versatility required for thecommercial theatre.The course is dance-based. All studentsstudy Classical Ballet, Contemporary,Jazz and Tap and these dance subjects arebalanced with Acting, Singing and MusicalTheatre Studies. During the first two yearsof training every student follows the samecourse, laying the foundation for furtherspecialisation in the third year. Studentschoose which Diploma path they wish tofollow once their strengths and weaknesseshave been assessed. Performances are builtinto the course from the first term andstudents are supported and encouragedto develop their confidence in performingin parallel with their technical skills.The course is industry based reflectingthe college’s close involvement withthe commercial theatre.HOW TO APPLYAll applicants for the course are auditioned.Entry is by audition only and entry forms canbe downloaded from the college web siteor received by post. The college selectsapplicants on their talent and potential asfuture performers. Auditions are normallyheld from October through to April withrecall auditions at the end of the auditioncycle to allocate funded places (Danceand Drama Awards). Audition days consistof a Classical Ballet class, a Jazz class, adrama workshop and the solo performanceof a song (with sheet music) and a dance solo.RECOMMENDATION BY A GRADUATE“I trained at Laine Theatre Arts from 1995-1998,it was an incredible three years where I learnta great deal about myself, the industry andcame away feeling part of something special.Since leaving college and working with manyLaine students or as we all seem to knowourselves as ‘Laine-ies’ you can alwaysrecognize them by the way they behave,work and present themselves to their best.I’m proud to have had some of the besttraining in the country and have followedwith a very successful career which haschanged my life.
