VOCATIONAL COURSESOFFERED – PERFORMINGPer<strong>for</strong>mers College is an independentFurther Education College <strong>for</strong> thePer<strong>for</strong>ming Arts, specialising in dance<strong>and</strong> musical theatre.Per<strong>for</strong>mers College offer students on thethree-year course the opportunity to takeeither the National Diploma in Professional<strong>Dance</strong> or the National Diploma in ProfessionalMusical Theatre. Both courses are validatedby Trinity College London <strong>and</strong> accredited bythe Council <strong>for</strong> <strong>Dance</strong> Education <strong>and</strong> Training.All students on the three-year course willundertake a general first year. The outcomeof the first year will determine which courseis most suited to each student. Decisions areb<strong>as</strong>ed on mid-year <strong>as</strong>sessments, monitoring<strong>and</strong> views of the teaching faculty.DANCE COURSEThe dance course offers a comprehensivetraining in dance supplemented with singing,musical theatre <strong>and</strong> acting. Core subjects arejazz <strong>and</strong> cl<strong>as</strong>sical ballet. Additional subjectsinclude contemporary, tap, pilates,anatomy/physiology <strong>and</strong> contextual studies.Male students also have cl<strong>as</strong>ses in bodyconditioning, gymn<strong>as</strong>tics <strong>and</strong> weight training.Professional <strong>Dance</strong> experience is offeredin the third year.MUSICAL THEATRE COURSEThe musical theatre course offers acomprehensive training in musical theatre.Core subjects are musical theatre, singing,acting <strong>and</strong> jazz dance. Additional subjectsinclude cl<strong>as</strong>sical ballet, contemporary, tap,pilates <strong>and</strong> anatomy/physiology. Malestudents also have cl<strong>as</strong>ses in body conditioning,gymn<strong>as</strong>tics <strong>and</strong> weight training. ProfessionalMusical Theatre experience is offered inthe third year.COURSES OFFERED – OTHERA one-year Foundation Course is offeredat Per<strong>for</strong>mers College. The coursework willinclude daily ballet & jazz cl<strong>as</strong>ses <strong>as</strong> well<strong>as</strong> tap, contemporary <strong>and</strong> musical theatre.Foundation students are continually <strong>as</strong>sessed<strong>and</strong> receive a report at the end of eachterm. Students will also have the opportunityto per<strong>for</strong>m in your own end of coursetheatre production.Summer School/E<strong>as</strong>ter EventSummer School <strong>and</strong> E<strong>as</strong>ter Event areextremely popular. Tuition is given by regularmembers/guest staff at Per<strong>for</strong>mers <strong>and</strong> givesan idea of life at a full time college. SummerSchool/E<strong>as</strong>ter Event applicants should beaware of the age requirements <strong>and</strong> havea re<strong>as</strong>onable dance st<strong>and</strong>ard.HOW TO APPLYEntry to the College is by audition only.Auditions are held regularly from Octoberto May, but you are advised to apply early ifyou are applying <strong>for</strong> an award. Overse<strong>as</strong>students may audition by DVD.
