16 As a not-for-profit hospital, revenues are reinvested in St. Luke’s facilities. These facilities house new technology and programs that allow us to provide our patients with the most advanced medicine available. Research has shown that these investments do make a difference in patient outcomes, from freeing people of disease to providing them with longer and better quality of life. Years of planning, combined with countless hours of cost vs. benefit debates, factor into each new project before ground is ever broken. Within the last five years, St. Luke’s has opened two new community hospitals and implemented or expanded countless patient care services. These projects signify millions of dollars in capital expenditures, yet careful management and planning have enabled St. Luke’s to offer these services — when and where you need them most.
