SELAN Trial – Labor and Delivery began the Structured
Early Labor Assessment and Care by Nurses (SELAN) Trial,
a study that compares two kinds of early labor care
typically provided in the triage area before the patient is
admitted to the hospital. The study will provide researchers
with vital information regarding how best to care for
laboring patients.
Inside St. Luke’s Internet Site – Inside St. Luke’s was
launched to provide essential information to employees, all
in one convenient place. The site includes everything from
cafeteria menus to policies and procedures.
St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center Earns JCAHO
Accreditation -- St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center once
again received full accreditation by the Joint Commission
on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Hospitals surveyed by JCAHO go through a rigorous process
consisting of onsite surveys, chart reviews and employee
interviews, helping to ensure hospital quality and safety.

12th Annual St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Celebration –
Thousands of women and girls gathered in downtown
Boise to celebrate health and well-being at the Celebration
Women’s Show and the 5K Run, Walk and Stroll. Each year
at this signature event, grandmothers, Girl Scouts, elite
athletes and stroller moms alike celebrate camaraderie,
women’s strengths and healthy lifestyles.
Mole Mapping – Mole mapping, a new service at
St. Luke’s MSTI, uses full-body medical photographs to
monitor changes in existing moles and find new lesions
that could be melanomas. Using a state-of-the-art digital
camera, a professionally trained technician takes photos of
the entire skin surface. The photos are used by the patient
and referring physician as a baseline to help spot any
changes that may occur, assisting in earlier diagnosis
of melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.
