Instructional Technology Graduate Programs in Support <strong>of</strong> Corporate E-LearningII.METHODOLOGYRecent e-mail surveys and follow-up phone interviews with instructional technology program faculty atResearch I institutions found that most <strong>of</strong> them had relationships with external entities in support <strong>of</strong>training and instructional development, with many <strong>of</strong> these relationships specifically in support <strong>of</strong> e-learning. Participants were selected based on the size <strong>of</strong> their doctoral student population as indicated inthe 2004 <strong>Edu<strong>cation</strong></strong>al Media and Technology Yearbook [6]. Those programs serving 25 or more Ph.D.level students were contacted via e-mail with a request for information related to e-learning initiativeswith external clientele. Eight <strong>of</strong> the ten programs meeting the specified criteria responded to the requestfor information, providing information related to partner organizations, descriptions <strong>of</strong> collaborations, andbenefits <strong>of</strong> engaging in such opportunities.III. RESULTSTable 1 identifies the responding institutions, their external partners, and the manner in which theycollaborate on e-learning efforts. An interesting array <strong>of</strong> interactions and e-learning support relationshipswere prevalent among the IT programs and their external partners.
