Herbert Smith CentreUniversity of New Brunswick• To combine the flexibility of asynchronous learning with the ability for real-time interactions,five faculty and administrators from three universities used a blended approach in thedelivery of a new entrepreneurship course, Business Planning and Strategy in anEntrepreneurial Environment.• Blended learning is “a learning program where more than one delivery mode is being usedwith the objective of optimizing the learning outcome and cost of program delivery.”• Faculty members were highly motivated to enhance collaborative entrepreneurship education;they were encouraged by institutional initiatives to share intellectual assets by using emergingtechnologies.• The course employed a variety of activities—reading assignments, workshops and lectures,case studies, guest speakers, a business simulation game, and an entrepreneur’s toolkit.• The learning technologies created a synergy and net gains in the educational experience thatcould not have been achieved in the physical classroom.41
