Instructional Technology Graduate Programs in Support of Corporate E-LearningThe experiences highlighted in this case study have demonstrated a successful example of the bridging ofthe two worlds of higher education and industry for the advancement of e-learning. CITSIE faculty areconvinced that interactions with external partners are essential to stay current in the practice ofinstructional design and technology as well as to maintain awareness of real-world issues faced bypractitioners in industry.Higher education and external enterprises can work together to collaboratively advance the field of e-learning through shared experiences such as those described in this paper. Academia must find ways toweave interactions with business partners into the fabric of their missions and activities related to e-learning. Industry should seek to leverage the extensive empirical research and experience in e-learningthat educational institutions have demonstrated over the past decade.
