102 From Hopscotch To HolinessACTIVITIES FOR SMALL GROUPS1. Pray together for a spirit of repentance in your church. Here’s asample prayer to get you started. Spirit of the living God, fall afreshon me today. Melt the hardness of my heart that resists repentance.Give me a quiet trust in your perfect work in my own life. I want tosee renewal and revival in my church so much. Together, help us tounlock the key to repentance. Make us a true faith community. Inrepentance help us to find salvation and rest. Amen2. Consider how you might highlight opportunities for repentancein your church. Here’s a prayer exercise that could be incorporatedinto a worship service. Everyone will need a black sheet of paper towrite out their prayer of confession. All should be encouraged tobring their prayer forward and leave it in a designated container atthe cross. Then they can pick up a scripture of hope which has beenprepared in advance. The sample prayer might be helpful at the altar.• DIVINE EXCHANGE ACTIVITY. Come to the cross with your sin.Write out a prayer of confession. Receive God’s forgiveness andhis words of hope. Pray at the altar. Sovereign Lord, I praise youfor your victory over sin and Satan on the cross. I come eagerlyto the cross to receive a fresh touch from you. Rescue me frommy “self.” Empower me to live the victorious life you provide.Amen. Provide small slips of paper with printed scriptures ofhope. People are encouraged to leave their sin at the cross andreturn to their seats with a scripture promise of hope.3. Organize prayer stations to encourage participants to cry outfor the church in targeted prayer for renewal by the power of theHoly Spirit. Print the title and scriptures for each topic on the fourdifferent signs. Here’s a scriptural prayer guide to help you getstarted. Encourage participants to visit one or more of these prayerstations during a time of corporate prayer.
