That’s why the Lord can call us to be set apartfrom the world for his holy purposes. Sin can and will be uprooted inyour life by the power of the Holy Spirit. God is calling each of us, and thechurch worldwide, to a greater understanding and experience of holinessand submission. These are strategic days in God’s kingdom. The Lordis returning for his church. And he promises that it shall be “holy andwithout blemish.” (Ephesians 5:27) Beloved, make a conscious choice toembrace God’s work of holiness in your life. It’s worth the price. By God’sgrace, you’ll radiate the love and holiness of God every day. Then you willbe ready for his return.HOLINESS AND OBEDIENCERomans 6:17-18 clarifies the connection between holiness and obedience.“But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, youhave come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that hasnow claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and havebecome slaves to righteousness.” Once, before we knew Christ, all of uswere slaves of sin. Sin dominated our lives. Living a holy life was a totalimpossibility. But thanks to our personal relationship with Jesus Christ,we have now becomes slaves of righteousness. We don’t just obey Godout of duty. Instead, we have become “obedient from the heart.” Wenow have an honest desire to obey the Lord in all things and walk in hisholiness. Daily, we’re growing in holiness and obedience.
Growing In HolinessLESSONS FROM HOPSCOTCH AND LIFE61In hopscotch you are out if you lose your balance and accidentally hopoutside the grid. In our spiritual life, we can easily get out of balance aswell. The challenge for each of us is to stay centered in the holiness ofGod. Many forces can draw our attention away from the Lord and causeus to lose our balance. Certainly, that is the goal of the enemy. Andnumerous temptations in the world may cause us to stray from the pathmarked out for Christians in the Bible. We need the empowerment of theHoly Spirit to walk in victory. But even Spirit-filled Christians can get outof balance concerning the role of the Holy Spirit. Scripture makes it clear(John 16:14) that the role of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus. Beloved,pray that you will always maintain balance in your spiritual walk. Thenyou will live a holy life that pleases the Lord and lead others to Christ.Holy God, empower me to live a holy life, centered in the truth of yourWord. Amen
