Youth/Adult Adaptive Sports Adaptive Sports Sampler F131012 Youth and Adults with a Physical Disability, Family and Friends Join us for a four-week Paralympic sports experience. Each week a new sport will be introduced and you will have the chance to try it. Encourage your friends and family to attend and learn more about Paralympic sports. NEDSRA will provide the equipment and instruction each night as you try wheelchair hockey, soccer, handcycling, and a week where you decide the sport. This is your chance to ask questions, test equipment, and meet peers in a relaxing, informative environment. Each sport will be adaptable to any individual’s skill or ability level. Individualized goals will be established to ensure appropriate assistance and guidance; ultimately providing a thorough workout each week. Don’t miss your chance to learn about fitness while getting in shape or training for your sport of choice. It is a Paralympic sport played by individuals with a spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, or an amputation that affects three or more limbs. The object is to get past opponents and score a goal by crossing the end line with possession of the ball. We are always looking for interested individuals; join us to check out rugby. Youth/Adult Special Olympics As part of NEDSRA’s goal to provide the best customer service to all our participants, we have changed the fee structure for our Special Olympics sports. The fee now includes the Special Olympics District or Area Qualifier tournament registration fees. If you register for a Special Olympics sport, you will not have a separate registration Sean Tovey, CPRP, CTRS Recreation Coordinator Special Olympics, Interns stovey@nedsra.org 630-576-4035 form and fee for the tournament at the end of the season. This will save time, effort and money on the part of our participants, families and group home staff. Additional tournaments may require registration and fees depending on each individual sport. Huskies Basketball Training Camp F131718 Youth and Adults with an Intellectual Disability Whether you want to try basketball for the first time or are a seasoned Huskies basketball veteran looking for some extra gym time, this is the program for you. Get a feel for the court, your new teammates or work on the chemistry you built last year in Huskies Basketball Training Camp. NEDSRA coaches will teach you basic basketball skills and fundamentals of court play. This will allow you an opportunity to get ready for the 2013-2014 Basketball season, which begins in November. This program emphasizes sportsmanship, conditioning, and learning fundamental rules and skills. The team will compete against teams from other Special Recreation Associations, and participate in the Special Olympics Area 5 and ITRS Tournaments in January and February.
