Doug Straley was promoted to Assistant Athletic<br />

Director for Sports Medicine in August 2009, after<br />

serving as <strong>Manhattan</strong>'s Director of Sports Medicine<br />

for the previous six years. Straley supervises the<br />

athletic training of the 300+ student-athletes who<br />

compete for <strong>Manhattan</strong>’s 19 Division I athletic<br />

teams.<br />

Prior to his arrival in Riverdale, Straley served<br />

as the director of sports medicine at <strong>Manhattan</strong>ville<br />

<strong>College</strong> in nearby Purchase, NY. At <strong>Manhattan</strong>ville,<br />

he coordinated the rehabilitation, prevention,<br />

and management of athletic injuries for over 250<br />

intercollegiate NCAA Division III student-athletes.<br />

Before his tenure at <strong>Manhattan</strong>ville, Straley<br />

worked for three years as the assistant director<br />

of sports medicine at Assumption <strong>College</strong>. He<br />

assisted with the medical care of the athletic<br />

program’s 19 Division II varsity sport teams.<br />

Straley, a 1998 graduate of Northeastern<br />

University, worked as a student athletic trainer<br />

during his undergraduate years. In 1999, he<br />

received a master of science degree in athletic<br />

training from University of Tennessee at<br />

Chattanooga.<br />

Additionally, Straley served as the head athletic<br />

trainer for the Westchester Wildfire, a United<br />

States Basketball League (USBL) team coached<br />

by former New York Knick John Starks.<br />

Straley had been published on numerous<br />

occasions, and has made several presentations<br />

based upon his research in the field of Athletic<br />

Training.<br />

Straley holds Athletic Training licenses in<br />

New York, Massachusetts, and Georgia, and<br />

is a member of the National Athletic Trainers<br />

Association and the National Strength and<br />

Conditioning Association. He is certified as a<br />

Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as an Athletic<br />

Trainer, and in CPR and First Aid. A decorated<br />

Eagle Scout, Straley won the Koko Kassabian<br />

award while at Northeastern for outstanding<br />

achievement in leadership, scholarship, and<br />

professional development.<br />

A native of Newton, Mass., Straley currently<br />

resides in Dobbs Ferry, NY with his wife Jennifer<br />

and their daughter Annabelle.<br />

Lindsay Darcy enters her first year as academic<br />

advisor for the <strong>Manhattan</strong> <strong>College</strong> Athletic<br />

Department. Darcy manages the academic support<br />

for <strong>Manhattan</strong>’s 300+ student-athletes, a role<br />

which has helped the department rank among the<br />

nation’s best according to several NCAA measures<br />

of academic success. Darcy’s duties include<br />

assisting student-athletes in class scheduling,<br />

monitor their academic progress, oversee the<br />

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and<br />

coordinate tutoring and other special needs.<br />

Prior to this appointment, Darcy worked as<br />

<strong>Manhattan</strong>’s compliance coordinator since the<br />

2007-2008 academic year. In this role, she was<br />

responsible for monitoring and regulating NCAA<br />

eligibility.<br />

Darcy (nee Peirson) earned a bachelor’s degree<br />

from Syracuse University in 2005. She was a fouryear<br />

letterwinner for the Orange field hockey team,<br />

and earned a Big East Scholar-Athlete selection<br />

all four years. In 2001, she earned All-America<br />

honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches’<br />

Association (NFHCA). At the conclusion of her<br />

final season with the Orange, Darcy was selected<br />

to the All-Big East Second Team.<br />
