Measuring Success in Maths is a
series of photocopiable maths
tests that can be used regularly
throughout the school year.
Informed by past national test
questions, it offers a flexible mix
of both Mental and Written tests
that can be used across Key
Stages 1 and 2.
Initial tests for pupils in Year 1 are
task based. As pupils progress
through the year, Mental and
Written tests are introduced that
reflect their increasing capability
and these continue into Year 2. For Years 3 to 6 there are three Mental
and Written tests for each block of the Framework. This comprehensive
approach enables teachers to monitor progress at different points in the
school year and at the end of Key Stages 1 and 2.
Why use Measuring Success in Maths?
• The easy-to-use tests will help you assess the growing understanding of
your pupils quickly and effectively, as they complete mathematical topics
• Results will help teachers and private tutors target their teaching to the
needs of both individuals and groups
• Teachers can enter pupils scores into a free online Level Converter to
calculate their National Curriculum levels
• Due to its photocopiable format, the tests are very cost-effective
“The mental maths tests are proving useful for
SATs revision – some different ways of wording
questions is a bonus, as children can rely too
much on the usual verbal cues.”
