As part of our commitment to keep training relevant and make it easily
accessible to educational professionals, our Professional Development
Services now offer 63 training modules covering a wealth of topics that are
important in schools today.
Each module is delivered by an accredited facilitator with extensive
experience working in the education sector and in adult facilitation.
Extending across GL Performance and GL Assessment, the modules are
divided into six categories, as shown opposite. We have kept the pricing
and booking system as simple and as flexible as possible so that you are
able to ‘mix and match’ modules easily from across categories according
to your school’s or local authority’s requirements.
This is made even easier by the fact that the length and price of each
module are exactly the same for all modules. With the exception of L1, an
online module, each module is delivered during a three-hour, face-to-face
group session.
In addition, modules are mapped against the appropriate Ofsted criteria
and sub-criteria to assist you in matching your module selection to your
school improvement priorities.
For further information, including details of the Ofsted mapping, please
visit www.gl-performance.co.uk/pds or call 0845 02 193 (option 3).
Why use PDS?
• Our professional development modules help ensure that all aspects of
school improvement can be addressed and resources used to their full
potential
• All modules are delivered by accredited facilitators who work or have
worked at senior level in schools or local authorities
• Flexible ‘mix and match’ system enables you to put together a
professional development programme that is bespoke to your needs
The modular approach
Choice of modules is very flexible and
you are free to mix and match
modules from across six categories.
Please note that, while many modules
are stand-alone, others must be taken
in conjunction with one or more other
modules. Information on pre-requisite
learning can be found on our website.
Coaching
By placing a coaching ethos at the
heart of professional development in
your school, you can help ensure you
get the best from all your staff.
Data Interpretation
The correct analysis and interpretation
of data is essential to maximising
school improvement and improving
pupils’ attainment. Modules focus on a
wide range of data sources, including
key resources from GL Assessment,
such as the Cognitive Abilities Test
(CAT) (pages 10–18) and Pupil
Attitudes to Self and School
(PASS) survey (pages 50–52).
Leadership & Management
With 30 individual modules, our
Leadership & Management category
reflects clearly the in-depth knowledge
and myriad of skills required by
schools leaders and managers today.
• Participation in our modules can help schools satisfy the requirements of
the 2012 Ofsted framework
• Three-hour sessions make it possible to slot a module in as an afterschool
session, making Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
more accessible to school staff and leaders whilst also removing the
additional need for supply cover
• All modules can contribute towards accreditation at Masters level from
Bath Spa University
Teaching & Learning
The ‘quality of teaching’ has been
identified in Ofsted’s 2012 inspection
framework as one of the four areas of
priority. In line with this, our
Professional Development Services
offer four informative modules to
enhance key classroom and lesson
observation skills.
• Offering excellent value for money, our services enable you to fulfil your
professional development objectives in a cost-effective way
• Our Professional Development Services all carry the ISO quality
management standard. In addition, our ISO 27001 accreditation means
that your data is safe with us
ICT & New Technologies
The modules within our ICT & New
Technologies category provide senior
school leaders and school staff with an
increased understanding of new
technologies and how they can impact
positively on teaching and learning.
School Governance
With modules suitable for all school
governors, our School Governance
category is designed to help the
Governing Body become more
strategic and effective.
