The angle between the lights vinyl and camera
is fairly important to avoid possible reflections
from the vinyl surface.
If the angle is to shallow the light will bounce
back at the lens. Camera mounted flash is not
recommended. The angled lights also remove
the subjects shadow from the background.
The camera settings for these three images was
40mm on an 18 - 55mm lens, and 320th at F5.
Distance from camera to subject was about 5ft
hand held.
I have invested in a few more of these
backdrops, mainly due to the price. But I like
the quality of the images, and they serve my
purpose.
Gordon
I still have a selection of other Fotospeed
papers to review, but since I needed to test the
quality of this paper and its potential for the
exhibition prints I decided to start with the
PFGloss270 Panoramic Inkjet Media.
Fotospeed Inkjet Panoramic Paper.
By Gordon Longmead
Once this was overcome all was well. For this
test I set up the picture in my old and trusted
MS Publisher.
The paper is designed to be printed on a
standard A4 desktop printer being 594mm by
210mm in size.
It also comes with free custom ICC profiles for
those who understand such things. I do not
since I have never had problems with print
quality.
The printer I used is an Epsom Stylus SX235W
set to Epsom Glossy media. This is a standard
setting for me which also allows me to compare
the Fotospeed print with earlier standards.
The biggest problem I found was to get the
printer to actually set the program to accept the
user defined page size and the printer to do the
same.
The panorama used was of the centre of Padova
in Italy. As you can see it is a long picture so
when printed as a image on the selected paper
size it is narrow. I have used the excess space
for inclusion of a title.
The printer accepted the paper first time and it
travelled through with out any problems
although it is advisable to stand ready to catch
the print if needed.
The result was excellent, The fine detail was all
in evidence and the colour rendition was spot
on. The paper has a good finish and a feel akin
to quality photographic papers.
