This community however ended up in a village
of farmers, and without land there is not much
they can do, trying to survive in a urban jungle
they are slowly disappearing, diluted in the
“modern” society and unfortunately not a
shriving one.
We are looking in to the possibility of getting
these people a piece of land where they once
again can be what they really are, a part of the
rainforest.
There´s a portrait here, of a man, actually a
king, he is king of the Batwa tribe in Semuliki,
there are some other communities of Batwa
around these areas some more fortunate than
these, the Batwa are the original pygmy tribe of
Uganda.
Next trip; we are now getting in to some serious
safaris, upcoming is a 10 day tour through
Queen Elisabeth NP , Hiking the Rwenzori and
Murchison falls, waterfall safari and maybe a
trip down the Nile river or the Murchison.
Hunters, gatherers and fishermen, proud people
of the rainforest, today this particular
community of some 125 people have been
forced out of the forest, since it is now a
National Park, others have been offered a good
land to live on and also a part of the culture
tourism, selling music instruments, bows and
arrows all made from what the rain forest could
provide.
