INDIANA/MISSOURI CONNECTIONS:
• Rams T-Rodger Saffold played his college ball at Indiana University,
playing in 42 games (41 starts) from 2006-09.
• Rams Assistant Head Coach Dave McGinnis coached at Indiana
State in 1978.
• Rams Wide Receivers Coach Ray Sherman coached at Purdue
from 1982-85.
FORMER COLTS/RAMS
• Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson began his NFL front office
career in 1999 as a national scout with St. Louis. The Rams won
Super Bowl XXXIV in his first season and then appeared in Super
Bowl XXXVI two seasons later. St. Louis earned a 56-24 regular
season record during Grigson’s stint with the Rams, making the
playoffs four times in five seasons. Four times the Rams won 10-
or-more games, while winning three NFC West titles and capturing
two conference championship games.
• Colts CB-Josh Gordy played for the Rams in 2011, appearing in
14 games (nine starts) while recording three interceptions.
• Rams S-Matt Giordano played for the Colts from 2005-08, appearing
in 55 games (six starts) in his four years in Indianapolis.
• Rams TE-Mike McNeill played four games for the Colts in 2011.

• Colts NT-Josh Chapman and RB-Trent Richardson played with
Rams G-Barrett Jones at Alabama from 2009-2011, winning the
BCS National Championship two times in three years (2009 and

their entire collegiate career (2004-07) together, and their senior
season with Colts T-Anthony Castonzo at Boston College.
• Colts T-Jeff Linkenbach and DT-Ricardo Mathews played the
2008 and 2009 seasons at Cincinnati with Rams RB-Isaiah Pead.
• Colts DT-Ricky Jean Francois and ILB-Kelvin Sheppard played
with Rams T-Joe Barksdale for the 2007 and 2008 seasons at
LSU. Sheppard and Barksdale played two more seasons together
for the Tigers, joined in 2010 by Rams DT-Michael Brockers.
• Colts S-Sergio Brown played his freshman season at Notre
Dame in 2006 with Rams QB-Brady Quinn.
• Colts RB-Daniel Herron played with Rams LB-James Laurinaitis
(2008) and LS-Jake McQuaide (2008-2010) at Ohio State.
• Colts TE-Weslye Saunders, Rams TE-Jared Cook and SS-Darian
Stewart were teammates at South Carolina from 2006-08.
• Colts DT-Aubrayo Franklin played at Tennessee with Rams C-
Scott Wells from 2001-02.

at Virginia for the entire careers from 2008-2011.

staff at North Carolina while Rams DE-Robert Quinn played for

• Colts Secondary Coach Mike Gillhamer coached at Oregon from
2001-02 while Rams QB-Kellen Clemens played for the Ducks.
• Colts Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Roger Marandino
and Rams Assistant Special Teams Coach Paul F. Brodreau
worked together on the staff at Brown from 1999-2006.
• Colts Assistant Offensive Line Coach Hal Hunter coached at Indiana
University of Pennsylvania while Rams Quarterbacks Coach
Frank Cignetti was a safety on the team in 1986.

coaching staff there.
• Colts S-LaRon Landry played at LSU in 2003 while Walton was

in Denver during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
• Colts OLB-Andy Studebaker and CB-Jalil Brown played with
Quinn for the Chiefs in 2012 when Colts Special Teams Coordinator
Tom McMahon coached in Kansas City.
• Colts CB-Josh Gordy and OLB-Erik Walden played together for
the Packers in 2010 along with Rams C-Scott Wells.
• Colts C-Samson Satele (2008), OLB-Erik Walden (2008-2010)

Finnegan (2011), LB-Will Witherspoon (2011-12), Linebackers
Coach Frank Bush Sr. (2011-12) and Assistant Head Coach Dave
McGinnis (2011).
• McMahon coached in Atlanta while Rams G-Harvey Dahl played
for the Falcons from 2007-08.
• McMahon also coached with Rams Offensive Line Coach Paul T.
Bourdeau for the Falcons from 2008-2011.
• Colts Secondary Coach Mike Gillhamer was on the Panthers
coaching staff during Rams LB-Will Witherspoon’s time in Carolina
from 2004-05.
• Colts Offensive Coordinator Pep Hamilton was coaching for the

and 2009 seasons when Rams G/T-Chris Williams was in

while Quinn was playing in Cleveland from 2007-08.

coached together for the 49ers in 2006 when Dahl played in San

coaching staff.
• FitzGerald coached in Arizona when McGinnis was the Cardinals
head coach from 2000-03.
• Colts Assistant Special Teams Coach Brant Boyer played for the
Jaguars from 1996-97 when Rams Assistant Defensive Line Coach
Clyde Simmons was on the staff in Jacksonville.
• Colts DE-Cory Redding played in Detroit from 2003-05 while
Rams Offensive Quality Control Coach Andy Sugarman was on
the Lions staff.
