Dr Robin Wilson is Consultant Radiologist at King’s College NHS Trust,<br />

London. After 13 years as the director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Nottingham</strong> Breast Institute he<br />

moved to work in London at King’s College, Guy’s and The Princess Grace<br />

Hospitals. He is also the Regional Director <strong>of</strong> Breast Screening Quality<br />

Assurance, Chairman <strong>of</strong> the UK <strong>National</strong> Breast Screening Radiology<br />

Coordinating Committee and visiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Radiology to the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Derby. He is Secretary <strong>of</strong> the European Group for Breast Cancer<br />

Screening and the breast screening representative on the executive<br />

committee <strong>of</strong> the European Society <strong>of</strong> Mastology. Dr Wilson has published<br />

widely in the field <strong>of</strong> breast imaging and diagnosis and has established an<br />

international reputation as an expert in this field. He has also been involved<br />

in writing the UK national guidelines for good practice in breast diagnosis for<br />

radiologists, pathologists and surgeons and has delivered more than 150<br />

invited lectures around the world. His particular interests are<br />

multidisciplinary team working for breast assessment, breast cancer<br />

screening, breast ultrasound and image guided breast interventional<br />

procedures. Dr Wilson has been a lecturer in the 2005-2007 editions <strong>of</strong> The<br />

Breast Course and is Director <strong>of</strong> the 2009 edition<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Redmond is Head <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong> Surgery, Cork <strong>University</strong><br />

Hospital / <strong>University</strong> College Cork. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Redmond has served on<br />

numerous national and international bodies including acting as Director <strong>of</strong><br />

the Scientific Committee for the Association <strong>of</strong> Surgeons <strong>of</strong> Great Britain and<br />

<strong>Ireland</strong>, Membership Director for the Society <strong>of</strong> Academic and Research<br />

Surgery. He is currently a Council Member and Chair <strong>of</strong> the Scientific<br />

Guidelines Committee for the Royal College <strong>of</strong> Surgeons in <strong>Ireland</strong> and<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> Cancer Services for the Health Service Executive – Southern<br />

Region. He served as Chair <strong>of</strong> the Irish <strong>National</strong> Cancer Forum from 2003 –<br />

2006 and is currently a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>National</strong> Cancer Control Programme<br />

Committee. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Redmond has authored / co-authored over 220<br />

research publications, book chapters and books. He is an Editorial Board<br />

Member <strong>of</strong> the journal Sepsis and a journal reviewer for many international<br />

journals. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Redmond’s research interests include the effects <strong>of</strong><br />

surgical injury on metastatic tumour growth and cellular re-programming in<br />

the acute septic response.
