Cup buffet brings world all together NOTHING brings people together like a little bit of healthy competition, and nothing says competition like a world cup. One of the best things about a world cup of any sport is that people from all over the world can come together as one. Everyone cheers and gets involved in the atmosphere, no matter what language they speak. Sport and friendly competition can break down barriers that would otherwise face people of such vastly different parts of the world. Regardless of whether we can understand the languages of all the supporters, we can understand the emotions that drive their passion for their country’s team. Here at the club, not only do we love sport in general, but we especially love it when sport brings people together. Right at this very moment, we are celebrating this sense of world-wide community that has been brought about by the Rugby World Cup. Twenty teams from around the world, including Australia, are currently in England, battling it out to see who will be the best rugby team in the world. Australia is facing the added struggle of playing in cold weather, something which we aren’t particularly used to. But they are playing hard none-the-less and are making it an event not to miss. It is this competition that has inspired us to re-invent our World Cup themed buffet in Dolphins HQ. Every Thursday night throughout October, we invite you to join us for our Rugby World Cup Buffet. The selection will include a line-up of multicultural dishes, so you can get involved in the atmosphere of the world cup without leaving the country. Start your meal with a taste of Scotland by trying some green pea soup. Chase it down with hot delicacies including fish and chips from England, traditional Irish shepherd’s pie, frikkadels from South Africa, grilled fish with chimichurri from Argentina, baked sweet potato from Tonga and benihana fried rice from Japan. Add to your plate a selection of salads and cold food, choosing from green bean salad from France, antipasto from Italy, Oka I’s, which is a fish salad from Samoa, or an Australian garden salad. Finally you can complete the meal with delicious desserts, including banana fritters from Uruguay/Argentina, mini pavlovas and fruit from Australia, Nanaimo bars from Canada and a Fijian fruit salad. You can enjoy this little trip around the world for just $24.90 for members and $29.90 for non-members. The Rugby World Cup Buffet will kick off from 6pm every Thursday night in Dolphins HQ throughout October. Make sure you book your place, because this is an experience you won’t want to miss. IN the past few months we’ve sampled dishes from all over the world. From the Philippines, to the Ukraine, to New Zealand and back home to Australia, we’ve certainly been on a culinary trip. This journey is all thanks to the amazing chefs here at the club who have put their favourite dishes on display and shared their stories with us. This month, the chef in the spotlight is one you may already know about. Peter Hurley is head chef and catering manager here at the club. Peter has been with us for more than six years and has consistently been delivering delicious meals and friendly smiles all throughout that time. When deciding what to choose for his dish, Peter wanted to pick something that would taste delicious, as well as something that was meaningful to him. It is for this reason that Peter has picked a dish that is a tribute to his family heritage. He can trace his lineage back to Ireland, which is what has inspired the creative dish that he will be sharing with us this month. The dish is grilled pork cutlet with colcannon and a seeded mustard and apple glaze. It is a modern take on tradition, as it incorporates several elements that are fundamental parts of the Irish cuisine. Peter aimed to create a dish that has the culture of a faraway country, while still Catering boss Peter picks a favourite dish from Irish cuisine using only the very best Australian produce. All of the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, ensuring that the dish is of the highest quality. Much like most of the traditional Irish meals, this dish is very homely. It warms you from the inside and makes you feel happy and full. Whether you want to share a meal with friends and family, or if you want to enjoy a nice quiet meal, this dish is perfect for everyone. What makes it so perfect is not just its homely appeal or quality produce, it is also made extra special by its simplicity. They say less is more, and in this case it is definitely true. The easy combination of flavours brings out the best in every element of the dish. The meal isn’t over crowded with flavours trying to compete with each other. Instead it’s a perfect balance and very easy to enjoy. You can try Peter’s homage to Ireland for just $19.90 for members and $21.90 for nonmembers. If you thought that wasn’t enough, the meal also comes with a full salad and vegetable buffet included. The Super 6 are six of our most favourite meals, all of which are designed to be high quality and affordable. The six meal options are simple but tasty and their affordable pricing make them an easy choice. But even our favourite menu items need an update every now and then to make sure they stay current and fresh. Which is why, as of October 12, two of the Super 6 meals will be replaced with brand new ones. That isn’t even the best part though, as the look of the Super 6 will have a total makeover, complete with a new name. Super 6 will now be known as Chef’s Best. The new name is very fitting, because these meals are the very best of what we have to offer our members and guests. There will be four of these fantastic meals that will stay the same. The tempura battered fish, the 250g grain fed rump, the seafood basket and the chicken schnitzel will all remain the traditional favourite’s bangers and mash and steak and kidney pie. These tasty options are sure to tempt your taste buds and we have no doubt that they will quickly become the favourites of the Chef’s Best range. This change to the old Super 6 isn’t the only change that will take place on this day. As of October 12, some of the items on the menu will increase in price slightly. The items that will be affected will be the roast of the day, the daily specials and the Chef’s Best. We pride ourselves on providing only the very best quality food to our customers. To ensure that we are able to continue to do so, we need to spend a little bit more to purchase the best quality produce. Not only does this mean that you are served the best we have to offer in every meal, but it also means that we are supporting local businesses. As a result, we do have to increase prices from time to time to ensure that we can continue to provide you with the best quality of meals possible. From October 12, the roast of the day will increase to $16 for members and $18 for non-members. The daily special will increase to Best will increase to $13.99 for members and $17.99 for non-members. If that wasn’t enough excitement on one day, there is one more slight change that will take place at the same time. The final change that will take place is the introduction of the spe- bar. You will be able to order from a selected range of meals in both of these bars, without having to leave the room. This way, you can satisfy your hunger from anywhere in the club. So why not join us in October to new favourite item on the Chef’s Best menu, or maybe even test out the convenience of ordering food from the gaming room and sports bar. Dining outdoors becomes easier WE are blessed with warm weather and sunshine on a regular basis in Queensland. We are very lucky to be able to relish in the pleasant outdoor weather for most of the year. It’s even nice to be out in the sun during winter. It’s no secret that sometimes it can be more enjoyable to eat your meal outside in the fresh air, making the most of our perfect Queensland weather. This is why we decided to expand the walkway around the Dolphin Central complex. We wanted to allow customers the opportunity to indulge in the delicious food offered by all the outlets at Dolphin Central, as well as enjoying the outdoors. Late August saw the completion of the updates to the walkway that surrounds the southern side of our Dolphin Central complex. Before our very eyes, we watched the transformation take shape. Although there were some minor setbacks, thanks to a bit of unpredictable weather, the changes were made almost before we knew what was happening. Our excellent team of builders worked hard to create exactly what we needed and the difference is astounding. Now we have a spacious new alfresco dining area for the café which extends right around the corner. There is plenty of room for you, your family and friends to enjoy the wide variety of delicious food and drinks available from the Over There Café, while enjoying the sunshine at the same time. There is even extra space available outside both 8 Slices Pizza and the Rumbling Tummy. With so much more room, you will have plenty of spots to sit and devour your meal, no matter which of these fantastic outlets you choose to dine at. The biggest decision now will be choosing where to eat. Now is the perfect time to check it out. The weather is warming up and we’re finally starting to shake off winter.
