In 1961, Jack and Martha, a young, African-American couple, are traveling across the country<br />

for a new job opportunity in California. Jack, a Korean War Vet, and Monique, his very-pregnant<br />

wife, need to stop in New Mexico as the hot weather and rough roads are causing Martha great<br />

distress. They reference a travel guide "The Negro Motorist Green Book" that tells them the<br />

motels that allow African-Americans to stay as well as the gas stations that will sell them gas.<br />

THE DIRECTOR: Karen Borger forged a successful career as an award-winning filmmaker;<br />

writing, directing and producing short films, documentaries & high-end TV commercials in Australia<br />

and Asia before relocating to the USA in 2007. Karen has worked in a freelance capacity<br />

and as Director of Original Content for The Walt Disney Company. She was selected for the<br />

David Lynch Masters in Film program, 2015, is currently producing her thesis project.<br />

THE DIRECTOR: Gian Smith has always had a passion for storytelling and film. He is notable as a<br />

spoken word poet for his appearances on HBO:Treme, and NPR. Though a gifted orator, Gian’s passion<br />

has always been to compliment all senses in storytelling, and it is no wonder film is his calling.<br />

THE DIRECTOR: During his time as an Assistant Director, George Taylor has worked with<br />

some of the best directors in the business, including Anthony Minghella, Clint Eastwood, Richard<br />

Linklater, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Steven Frears and more. This is his second short.<br />

When Theresa Burroughs came of voting age, she was ready to cast her ballot—but she<br />

had a long fight ahead of her. During the Jim Crow era, the board of registrars at Alabama's<br />

Hale County Courthouse prevented African Americans from registering to vote. Undeterred,<br />

Theresa remembers venturing to the courthouse on the first and third Monday of each<br />

month, in pursuit of her right to vote.<br />
