CHANGES TO ASSESSMENTS FOR<br />
SPECIALTY TRAINEES<br />
From 2015, the changes will aim to:<br />

Improve and simplify the use of WPBAs, and their<br />
effectiveness in training.<br />
Give more weight to the judgment of trainers.<br />
Strengthen the completion of units of training.<br />
Improve e-portfolio forms to reflect these changes.<br />
The GMC has recommended similar changes and<br />
other Colleges have already changed their approach to<br />
assessment.<br />

The new WPBA forms will be produced for e-Portfolio –<br />

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMITTEE<br />
Patient Information Lead<br />
The RCoA is currently looking for a consultant<br />
anaesthetist to take part in the updating and<br />
development of the Patient Information Leaflets<br />
(www.rcoa.ac.uk/patientinfo).<br />
What does being the Patient Information<br />
Lead member involve?<br />
The Patient Information Lead will be the chair<br />
of the Patient Information Working Group of the<br />
Professional Standards Committee. Working closely<br />
with the Lay Committee, they will update the patient<br />
information leaflets on a five-yearly basis, respond to<br />
ongoing inquiries regarding the leaflets and develop<br />
new leaflets as necessary. This editorial position<br />
will require strong attention to detail and, most<br />
importantly, a passion for providing information to<br />
patients regarding different aspects of anaesthesia.<br />

of your strengths suited to the advertised position<br />
