FRCA Examinerships academic year<br />

2016–2017<br />

The College invites applications for vacancies to the Board of Examiners in the Fellowship of the RCoA, for the academic<br />

year 2016–2017. Examiners will be recruited to the Primary examination in the first instance. The number of Examiners<br />

required will reflect the number of retirements from the current Board of Examiners.<br />

Applicants shall be assessed against a comprehensive Person Specification (PS) which, along with the Job Description (JD)<br />

and applications forms for this role can be downloaded from the College website (www.rcoa.ac.uk/node/313).<br />

An outline of key essential requirements for the role of FRCA Examiner, are set out below (although applicants must read<br />

the PS and JD before applying):<br />

a Essential<br />

1 Fellow by Examination, a Fellow ad eundem, or a Fellow by election of the RCoA.<br />

2 In good standing with the RCoA.<br />

3 Holds full registration, without limitation, with the GMC.<br />

4 At least five years’ experience as a consultant/SAS grade.<br />

5 Shall currently be active in clinical practice in the NHS.<br />

6 On 1 September 2015 shall have the expectation of completing at least ten years as an FRCA examiner.<br />

7 Can demonstrate active involvement in the training and assessment of trainees.<br />

8 Within the past five years shall have visited a Primary or Final FRCA examination.<br />

9 Good written and verbal communication skills.<br />

10 Ability to work as part of a team.<br />

11 Documentary evidence of satisfactory completion of Equal Opportunities training in the last three years and willingness<br />

to undertake further exam specific E&D training on an annual basis.<br />

12 Able to commit to long-term and active involvement in examiner duties including the ability to devote a minimum of 12<br />

days per academic year to the role. This includes both the delivery and development of the examinations<br />

b Desirable<br />

1 Shall demonstrate a special interest(s) directly relevant to the balance of expertise required in the Board of Examiners.<br />
