The account of Peter Taugwalder Junior
As early as 1905, Theophil Lehner, schoolteacher and postmaster in Zermatt,
had conducted an interview with Peter Taugwalder Junior. There are
no records left of this conversation. In 1918, the questioning was repeated
on behalf of Mr Montagnier. Peter Taugwalder Junior’s account – he was
75 years old at the time – is reproduced here:
