FISH RICE<br />

Es el plato típico de Barranquilla. Es<br />

una comida de extracción popular a<br />

base de la Lisa, pez de mar que<br />

desova en aguas salobres como<br />

desembocadura de los ríos. Se sirve<br />

en hoja de bijao, acompañado con<br />

bollo de yuca, ensalada de aguacate y<br />

guarapo de panela.<br />

Es tradicional consumirlo en cualquier<br />

andén de la cuidad y a cualquier hora.<br />

This is the typical dish of Barranquilla.<br />

It is a popular food made with Lisa, sea<br />

fish that spawn in brackish waters and<br />

river mouths. It is served in bijao leaves<br />

along with bollo de yuca, avocado<br />

salad and agua de panela (Brown<br />

sugar cane juice).<br />

It is customery to consume on any<br />

sidewalk of the city at any time.<br />

MONDONGO<br />

El mondongo, sancocho de mondongo o<br />

sopa de mondongo es una sopa típica de<br />

la cocina costeña, preparada básicamente<br />

con panza de res (Callo).<br />

El secreto para una buena sopa de<br />

mondongo, está en la lavada del<br />

mondongo, se debe realizar lavando con<br />

abundante limón o naranjas agrias. Se<br />

acompaña con arroz blanco, banano, o<br />

patacones.<br />

Mondongo or Mondongo soup is a typical<br />

soup of the cuisine from the coast,<br />

prepared basically with beef belly.<br />

The secret to a good Mondongo soup is to<br />

wash El Mondongo (the tripe). It should be<br />

done with plenty of lemon or sour orange. It<br />

is served with white rice, bananas or fried<br />

plantains.<br />
