Bleeding Beautifully

Hearing her name
for the first time,
taking in wine
by the fistful,
she waits to walk in the sun.
Barely breathing
in someone else's poem,
skipping line and stanza
barking like an angry dog.
She takes steps sideways
so the wind doesn't fuss
with her thinking,
she used to love lilacs
in old water;
she said they smelled
like blood.
