Challenge to Lead requires Effective Communicators<br />

DBWC May Network Majlis, alongside Global Terminology, hosts impactful session to grow UAE<br />

leaders<br />

The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) hosted international delegates from Global Terminology to discuss the<br />

acceptance of the challenge involved with leading and the role of “Leaders as Effective Communicators’. Dr Hedy<br />

Fawzy, Organizational Development Professional, worked with members of the DBWC to improve their leadership<br />

qualities.<br />

“Many of our members are in progressive leadership roles and/or are following their entrepreneurial ambition as<br />

business owners,” said HE Dr. Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg, President of DBWC. “With the help of professional<br />

companies like Global Terminology, we are able to share valuable knowledge on how to improve leadership skills<br />

that help grow these ladies into prominent leaders, with advanced skills and abilities.”<br />

Business owners, senior management and department managers attended the half-day workshop to enhance their<br />

leadership skills as it covered major leadership techniques on managing teams efficiently. The workshop, which<br />

was designed as a tool for leadership development, focussed on creating and accomplishing personal best as well<br />

as help participants lead others to get extraordinary things done.<br />

“At its core, leadership means setting goals, lighting a path, and persuading others to follow. However, the<br />

responsibility entails much more. By accepting the challenge to lead, you realize that the only limits are those you<br />

place on yourself,” said Dr Fawzy. “We are extremely privileged to be associated with the DBWC and to reach out<br />

to their esteemed group of members to help advance their abilities in the workplace.”<br />

Dr Fawzy mentored attendees to match leadership styles to development levels while she explored a common<br />

language and approach to leadership that permeates various culture. “My biggest objective of today was to<br />

develop highly skilled, flexible leaders who can develop and retain people and to shift intentions into behaviours,<br />

and behaviours into accountability.”<br />

The session enabled members to: Identify their individual leadership profile and explored how to use this<br />

knowledge to create their own future; Assess leadership competencies; Identify additional skills and tools that can<br />

improve a leader; Identify individual primary leadership style and techniques; Ways to overcome communication<br />

barriers; Develop ability to influence and communicate with others; Ways to become a better problem-solver and
