President John Dramani Mahama<br />
is working to meet the growing<br />
electricity demand (10-12% per<br />
annum). He has taken steps aimed<br />
at fixing permanently the perennial<br />
shortfalls in power generation which<br />
led to load shedding exercises in<br />
1983, 1998, 2006/7 and in recent<br />
times. To this end, the following have<br />
been worked on and will add 1,025<br />
MW of generation capacity by the<br />
close of 2015:<br />
• The 110MW steam component of the T2 Power<br />
Plant at Aboadze.<br />
• 250MW Ameri Power Plant<br />
• 225MW Karpower barge<br />
• 220 MW Kpone Thermal Power Plant<br />
• 180MW First part of Sunon Asogli Phase II<br />
• 38MW TTP Plant<br />
• 2MW Solar Power Plant at Navrongo<br />
Additionally work will soon begin on:<br />
• 110MW TEI Plant<br />
• 186MW T4 Power Plant at Aboadze<br />
Power purchase agreements have been entered<br />
into with several Independent Power Producers<br />
(IPPs) to construct additional power plants. The<br />
breakdown is as follows:<br />
