JON B. ALTERMAN is a senior vice president, holds the<br />

Zbigniew Brzezinski Chair in Global Security and Geostrategy,<br />

and is director of the Middle East Program at<br />

CSIS. Prior to joining CSIS in 2002, he served as a member<br />

of the Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of<br />

State and as a special assistant to the assistant secretary<br />

of state for Near Eastern affairs. Before entering government,<br />

he was a scholar at the U.S. Institute of Peace and<br />

at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.<br />

CAROLINE AMENABAR is production and design assistant<br />

in the Office of External Relations. She assists with<br />

the design of publications, marketing materials, and<br />

branding projects for CSIS. She has previously worked as<br />

a graphic designer for a design studio in Alexandria, VA<br />

and a DC nonprofit.<br />

ALISON BOURS is creative director in the Office of<br />

External Relations at CSIS. She leads the visual design of<br />

all CSIS marketing materials and reports, web projects,<br />

and branding initiatives. She works closely with the<br />

Center’s in-house video and interactive design studio,<br />

the iDeas Lab, to produce cutting-edge visual products<br />

for CSIS research projects. She previously served as deputy<br />

director of external relations, program manager and<br />

marketing associate, program assistant, and intern in the<br />

Office of External Relations.<br />

ERNEST Z. BOWER is a senior adviser, Sumitro Chair for<br />

Southeast Asia Studies, and codirector of the Pacific<br />

Partners Initiative at CSIS. He is recognized as a leading<br />

expert on Southeast Asia. He is president and CEO of<br />

Bower Group Asia, a business advisory firm he created<br />

and built. Before forming his company, he served for a<br />

decade as president of the US-ASEAN Business Council,<br />

the top private business group composed of America’s<br />

leading companies in Southeast Asia.<br />

MARK CANCIAN is a senior adviser with the CSIS International<br />

Security Program. He joined CSIS in April 2015<br />

from the Office of Management and Budget, where he<br />

spent more than seven years as chief of the Force Structure<br />

and Investment Division. Previously, he worked on<br />

force structure and acquisition issues in the Office of the<br />

Secretary of Defense and spent over three decades in<br />

the U.S. Marine Corps.<br />

VICTOR CHA is a senior adviser and Korea Chair at CSIS<br />

and is a professor of government and director for Asian<br />

Studies at Georgetown University. From 2004 to 2007,<br />

he was director for Asian affairs at the White House,<br />

where he was responsible for coordinating U.S. policy<br />

for Japan, the two Koreas, Australia, New Zealand, and<br />

the Pacific Island nations. He also served as U.S. deputy<br />

head of delegation to the Six-Party Talks and has acted<br />

as a senior consultant on East Asian security issues for<br />

different branches of the U.S. government.<br />

EDWARD C. CHOW is a senior fellow in the Energy and<br />

National Security Program at CSIS and is an international<br />

energy expert with more than 30 years of oil industry experience.<br />

He has worked in Asia, the Middle East, Africa,<br />

South America, Europe, and the former Soviet Union, and<br />

he has advised U.S. and foreign governments, international<br />

oil companies, multinational corporations, multilateral<br />

agencies, and international financial institutions.<br />

CRAIG COHEN is executive vice president at CSIS. In<br />

this role, he serves as deputy to the president and CEO,<br />

responsible for overseeing and helping to achieve all aspects<br />

of the Center’s strategic, programmatic, operational,<br />

outreach, fundraising, and financial goals, including<br />

recruitment of new program directors to CSIS. Previously,<br />

Mr. Cohen served as vice president for research<br />

and programs, deputy chief of staff, and fellow in the<br />

International Security Program. He has directed research<br />

on foreign assessments of U.S. power for the National<br />

Intelligence Council, codirected CSIS’ Commission on<br />

Smart Power, and authored reports on Pakistan, foreign<br />

assistance, and post-conflict reconstruction.<br />
