ACT CANBERRA HOSPITAL ?? interns PrediCted rotAtions Core Medical: Cardiology, General Medicine, Haematology, Medical Admissions and Planning Unit, Neurology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Geriatric Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. Core Surgical: Gastrointestinal Unit, ENT/Oral/Dental, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery. Core Emergency: (Canberra or Calvary Hospital). Non-Core Rotations: Alcohol and Drug Program, Hospital in the Home, Psychiatry (Calvary), Rehabilitation, Rheumatology/Immunology/ Dermatology, Surgical Admissions and Planning Unit, Mental Health, Radiation Oncology, Relief and Ward Nights, General Practice. bASiC infOrMAtiOn • The Canberra and Calvary Hospitals are the home hospitals for this network, all interns will have rotations at The Canberra Hospital. • Option to spend one or two terms of PGY2 rurally at Goulburn or Bega 10 Australian Capital Territory Australian Capital Territory • TCH has approximately 606 beds and busy outpatient clinics. It is a major trauma and teaching hospital, associated with the Australian National University (ANU), and covers many specialties. • Calvary Hospital is a 162 bed public teaching hospital also associated with the ANU. reASOnS tO APPly • Strong research links with the ANU and its John Curtin School of Medical Research. • Nationally recognized, dedicated teaching program. • Fully equipped medical library at TCH campus with online library and PDA service. • Ability to undertake PGY2 terms rurally with great teaching and clinical exposure. • Protected clinical teaching time and these sessions are recorded so that interns placed at rural site are still able to access them. • Sessions specifically organised to ensure topics such as after-hours ward cover are addressed early in the year APPliCAtiOnS fOr internSHiP • Applications for 2013 internship open on 30 April and close 8 June 2012 • Applications from Australian medical graduates for internship at Canberra Hospital should be lodged via email at matujmo@act. gov.au or posted to: JMO Recruitment, ACT Health Medical Appointments and Training Unit,The Canberra Hospital, PO Box 11, netWork trAining sites The Canberra Hospital (TCH) (home hospital) Bega District Hospital Calvary Hospital (ACT) Goulburn Base Hospital General Practice (Urban - Isabella Plains Medical Centre, Interchange General Practice, Waramanga Medical Practice (PGY1) and Rural – Cooma, Narooma, Bega (PGY2) or Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Services (PGY2)) Woden, ACT 2606. • Applicants need to submit an online application, a CV and 2 references. • Overseas trained doctors must have passed both parts of the AMC exams or be eligible for the Competent Authority Pathway.
