are organised in consultation with the interns<br />
to ensure the programme is responsive to<br />

• Assessments are carried out in the middle<br />

regular interviews throughout the year to<br />
discuss these <strong>and</strong> the interns progress.<br />
• A range of social events are organised by<br />

bASiC infOrMAtiOn<br />
• Mount Gambier Hospital is the only rural<br />
hospital in South Australia to offer a full year<br />
of internship in a rural environment; the<br />
appointee will have five 10-11 week term<br />
rotations including core terms of emergency<br />
medicine, medicine <strong>and</strong> surgery<br />
• <strong>The</strong> facility includes 78 public beds, 12 day<br />
surgery chairs, 4 operating theatres, a preadmission<br />
clinic <strong>and</strong> an online learning centre<br />
• Additional term rotations include general<br />
practice at Millicent; anaesthetics <strong>and</strong> some<br />
relieving.<br />
• <strong>The</strong> interns will be employed under the<br />
SASMOA award <strong>and</strong> be eligible for four<br />
weeks annual leave during the course of their<br />
contract.<br />

• <strong>The</strong> interns will work under supervision as<br />
part of a clinical team with the specialist term<br />
supervisor <strong>and</strong> salaried medical officers. All<br />
staff are supportive <strong>and</strong> provide a nurturing<br />
learning environment for the interns.
