• Mackay Base Hospital offers general services<br />
to a population of approximately 125,000<br />
throughout Mackay <strong>and</strong> the surrounding<br />
area, including referrals from the Hinterl<strong>and</strong><br />
(Moranbah, Dysart <strong>and</strong> Clermont) <strong>and</strong> parts<br />
of the Bowen Heath Service District.<br />
• Temporary accommodation for a period of<br />
up to 4 weeks may be available for rent until<br />
accommodation is secured in the city.<br />
• <strong>The</strong>re are seventeen rotations within the<br />
hospital per year, with the possibility of being<br />
posted to Proserpine <strong>and</strong> counted for an<br />
emergency term.<br />

protected time every Tuesday, 12.30-3.00pm<br />

• Staff Development Unit offers a multitude of<br />
courses, workshops <strong>and</strong> seminars<br />
• During each of your terms you will be<br />
given the opportunity to self-assess your<br />
performance, <strong>and</strong> receive feedback at midterm<br />
from your Clinical Supervisor.<br />

bASiC infOrMAtiOn<br />
• Ipswich Hospital is a major acute hospital<br />
on the western edge of Brisbane. It currently<br />
has 343 beds but an expansion for 2014 is<br />
underway <strong>and</strong> will deliver 90 extra beds.<br />
• Provides a strong training platform in either<br />
generalist or specialist career pathways.<br />
• <strong>Intern</strong>ship consists of 5 terms of 10-12<br />
weeks consisting of 3 core terms <strong>and</strong> 2<br />
elective rotations. Annual leave is given for<br />
5 weeks which must be taken as a 5 week<br />
block<br />

• Has an extensive post-graduate education<br />
program that has twice weekly intern<br />
educations sessions, workshops <strong>and</strong> training<br />
programs<br />

unit that makes sure that interns have<br />

professional <strong>and</strong> personal matters<br />
