beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all 2 colouring
tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and
they 3 were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjaza taught
enchantments, and root-cuttings, 'Armaros the resolving of enchantments, Baraqijal
(taught) astrology, Kokabel the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the
clouds, Araqiel the signs of the earth, Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and Sariel the
course of the moon. And as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to
heaven . . .
The Book of Jubilees another non-canonical book also elaborates on this theme:
JUBILEES 5:1-2 And it came to pass when the children of men began to multiply
on the face of the earth and daughters were born unto them, that the angels of God
saw them on a certain year of this jubilee, that they were beautiful to look upon; and
they took themselves wives of all whom they 2 chose, and they bare unto them
sons and they were giants. . . .. . . And lawlessness increased on the earth and all
flesh corrupted its way, alike men and cattle and beasts and birds and everything
that walks on the earth - all of them corrupted their ways and their orders, and they
began to devour each other, and lawlessness increased on the earth and every
imagination of the thoughts of all men 3 (was) thus evil continually
These angels are called children of heaven in contrast to children of men. They were alien
beings from other material worlds. As we are they also are with freedom to choose. This
choice still continues in the heaven. After the angels sinned by marrying human women,
they bore them gigants. (Again indication of the physical body of the Angels involved) The
Bible calls thm nephilim, the "mighty men of old, warriors of renown" (Gen. 6:4). The
descendants of the nephilims whose patriarch was Anak formed several tribes. Some of
these tribes are mentioned as present during the time of invasion of Canaan around 5c BC.
These are Rephaim, Zumim, Emim (Gen. 14:5), Anakim (Deu. 2:11), and Zamzummim (Deu.
2:20). Goliath and his brothers probably were the last of them.
It was these giants that the spies sent out by Moses saw and were afraid.
Num 13:31-33 But the men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those
people; they are stronger than we are." And they spread among the Israelites a bad
report about the land they had explored. They said, "The land we explored devours
those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim
there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like
grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."
