Environment Vote 26 - Continued (thousands of dollars) Landscape Stewardship (EN15) Develops and administers policies and programs for the management of Crown resource land to maintain a healthy ecosystem in balance with sustainable land use. To accomplish this it develops and implements land use plans, cumulative effects studies, responds to Treaty land entitlement and specific land claims, maintains the provincial network of protected areas and allocates Crown lands. Additionally the branch receives and reviews all proposals for oil, gas and mineral exploration and provides required environmental authorizations. Develops policies and procedures to support Ministry engagement and legal responsibilities to consult with First Nation and Métis communities to enhance environmental management outcomes. It develops and deploys internal tools and resources; leads inter-ministry, inter-governmental coordination; and provides direct support on Ministry initiatives regarding First Nation and Métis interests and rights.
