Wood-plastic composites (WPCs) represent
an ecological alternative to conventional
petroleum-derived materials. The wood
distillates studied in this thesis displayed good
potential as bio-based additives for WPCs
as they improved the water resistance and
mechanical properties. It was also shown
that proton-transfer-reaction time-of-flight
mass-spectrometry (PTR-TOF-MS) can be
applied to study the release of volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) from WPCs.
