Home economist Doris Christopher had her big idea in 1980. From working with<br />
homemakers, she knew that women needed timesaving tools to make cooking quick<br />
and easy. Seeing the success Tupperware had with its business model, she developed her<br />
own multi-level marketing business plan. With the $3,000 she borrowed from her life<br />
insurance policy, she started The Pampered Chef. By 2002, the company had grown into<br />
a $700 million business and was eventually sold to Berkshire Hathaway Corp. for $1.5<br />
