B.C. 457 - On this date the commandment by Artaxerxes to restore and build Jerusalem was given (Daniel 9:25; Ezra
7:7), and the 70 Weeks (490 years) of Daniel 9:24-27 and the 2300 Days (2300 years) of Daniel 8:14 began.
B.C. 408 - The walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt after 7 prophetic weeks, or 49 literal years. Daniel 9:25.
A.D. 27 - 62 prophetic weeks (434 actual years) after 408 B.C. brings us down to the anointing of the Messiah for His
mission, when John baptized Him in the River Jordan. Daniel 9:25-27; Matthew 3:13-17. Only one prophetic
week (7 literal years) remained unfullled of the 70 Weeks.
A.D. 31 - In the “midst,” or middle, of the 70th week, Messiah was to be “cut off,” but “not for Himself.” Daniel 9:26,
27. In A.D. 31, Jesus was crucied for us. uke 23:33, 46; 1 eter 2:24.
A.D. 34 - End of the 70-Week rophecy. The rst 490 years of the 2300 Day rophecy are completed. As predicted
in Daniel 9:24-27, these rst 490 years were determined, or allotted to, the Jewish nation as their nal
opportunity to vindicate their mission as God’s special people. Daniel 9:26, 27. Failing in this, the gospel
commission was to go to the Gentiles. In A.D. 34, Stephen, the rst martyr, was stoned to death by
the Jews. This marked the close of the 70 prophetic weeks allotted to the Jewish nation. Acts 7:54-60. 1810
years yet remain to complete the 2300-day/year prophecy.
1844 - The close of the 2300 years predicted in Daniel 8:14. The work of the Investigative Judgment and nal
atonement begins.
It requires 457 full years before Christ, and 1843 full years after Christ, to make 2300. Had the decree of
Artaxerxes dated from the BEGINNING of the year 457 B.C., the 2300 days would have extended to the last day of
A.D. 1843. But the decree did not go into effect until the AUTUMN of 457 B.C.; it follows that the 2300 days would end
in the autumn of 1844.
