presents the<br />
<strong>The</strong> Slate <strong>Belt</strong> Heritage Center Presents 5th Annual Ghost Tour<br />
<strong>The</strong> Slate <strong>Belt</strong> Heritage Center presents their 5th Annual Ghost Tour entitled<br />
“Dinner with <strong>The</strong> Dead” on Thursday, October 13th, 7:00pm. Come <strong>and</strong> hear<br />
the spooky stories of noted deceased Slate <strong>Belt</strong> residents. Advanced ticket<br />
purchases of $10.00 can be made at Heard’s Meat Market, 501 South Main<br />
Street <strong>and</strong> Bray’s Newsst<strong>and</strong>, 36 Broadway, both in Bangor. <strong>The</strong> Heritage Center<br />

Creatures of the Night<br />
Gr<strong>and</strong> Central Environmental Education Center (891 Gr<strong>and</strong> Central Road Pen<br />
Argyl, PA) will host Creatures of the Night with <strong>The</strong> Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation<br />
Center, Saturday October 15th, 10:30am – 11:30am rain or shine. Live<br />
Nocturnal Animals, Fall Treats <strong>and</strong> don’t forget to wear your costume there<br />
will be fun for all ages. Registration appreciated, but no required. For more<br />

is closed at Mack Road entrance, go around “Road Closed” sign <strong>and</strong> watch for<br />

Bangor Elks Halloween Parade<br />
<strong>The</strong> Bangor Elks Halloween Parade will be held Thursday October 20th, at<br />
7:00pm. This year’s theme is “Back to the 50’s”. Parade participants may register<br />
at Bray’s Newsst<strong>and</strong>, 36 Broadway, Bangor, Heard’s Meat Market, 501 S.<br />
Main Street, Bangor or the Bangor Public Library. <strong>The</strong> sign-up deadline is Saturday<br />
October 15th at 3pm. Late sign-ups will be held at the Bee Hive Community<br />
Center on Thursday October 20th at 5pm. For more information, please contact<br />

Open Gate Farm Tours in Northampton <strong>and</strong><br />
Lehigh Counties Have Been a Local Tradition<br />
for more Than Four Decades.<br />
Come discover the wide array of farms in your county that are doing everything<br />
from growing fruits <strong>and</strong> vegetables, making cheese <strong>and</strong> yogurt, training<br />
horses, raising alpacas, plant production <strong>and</strong> so much more. Learn how they<br />
operate, get to know the farmers, explore local agriculture, taste local foods,<br />
enjoy a hayride through their fields, have fun at a petting zoo <strong>and</strong> more.<br />
This year there are 19 farms on the Northampton County Open Gate Farm<br />
Tour <strong>and</strong> is scheduled for Saturday, October 8th <strong>and</strong> Sunday, October 9th from<br />

<strong>The</strong> Lehigh County Open Gate Farm Tour has 21 farms <strong>and</strong> is scheduled the<br />
following weekend on Sunday, October 16th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. For a list of<br />

Take advantage of this once a year opportunity, to meet your local farmers.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re is no charge to go to any of these farms. Visit as many or as few as you<br />
like. Both events are rain or shine.<br />
Trunk or Treat at West End Fire Co.<br />
Trunk or Treat will be held Monday October 31st from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the<br />
West End Fire Company Rte. 715 in Brodheadsville (Behind WaWa). Public is<br />
welcome to join in, all c<strong>and</strong>y must be wrapped <strong>and</strong> participants should arrive<br />
